ABOUT US
A boutique, 16-bedroom assisted living home in Historic Beverly, West Virginia. River views from the sunroom. A front porch that feels like a front porch. Care that fits the person.
Designed for Connection,
Not Isolation
Most assisted living facilities are built around private rooms with private bathrooms. We built ours differently, on purpose.
A private room sounds good in a brochure. In practice, it often means a resident who spends the whole day alone. Alone leads to depression. Depression leads to decline.
Our layout:
- 16 private bedrooms
- 10 rooms in the Extra Care Unit for advanced dementia
- Centrally located shared bathrooms in the Extra Care Unit
- Living room, dining room, and sunroom built for residents to gather
- Flat sidewalks and raised garden beds outside
- Clear lines of sight throughout the building
Engaging with the Community
Children from Beverly Elementary visit our residents throughout the year. They read together. They celebrate birthdays and holidays. They share ordinary days.
Our residents look forward to it. So do the kids.
Generations need each other. We make space for that here.
Why no private bathrooms in the Extra Care Unit:
For residents with advanced dementia, mirrors and bathrooms become sources of fear, not comfort.
- Mirrors can trigger psychosis. A resident no longer recognizes their own reflection. The face in the mirror becomes a stranger in their room.
- Bathrooms are where falls happen most. Wet floors and unsteady balance turn a private bathroom into the highest-risk space in any facility.
- Closed doors hide distress. A resident behind one is a resident no caregiver can reach quickly.
Our Extra Care Unit puts hygiene support in centrally located bathrooms where staff are present. Residents are never far from a caregiver. They are never far from the rest of the community.
The design reduces falls. It reduces fear. It keeps residents engaged with daily life instead of behind a closed door.
Daily Life
Meals. Every meal is cooked in our kitchen. Just real food, made by hand.
Care. Bathing, grooming, mobility, medication management, and health monitoring are built into the day.
Community. We partner with Beverly Elementary School. Children come to read, celebrate birthdays, and share holidays with our residents. The energy goes both ways.
Pace. Nothing is rushed. Our staff-to-resident ratio gives caregivers the time to actually know the people they care for.
Come See It
The building tells the story better than the website does. Schedule a tour and walk through it yourself.
